Military beach wrestling activity was photographed at Westside Beach Resort & Hotel in Okun Ajah, Lagos, on 7 September 2026. The images show athletes and support personnel using marked circles on the resort’s sand for a practical beach-wrestling session.
The photographs document activity that took place at Westside. They do not establish the resort as the official host, sponsor, competition venue, accommodation partner or organiser of the CISM event. Westside is publishing only what its own images can support and is not claiming a formal relationship without evidence.
Military beach wrestling activity at Westside
Westside’s photographs show wrestlers working inside clearly marked circles, with coaches, teammates or observers positioned nearby. The session appears focused on practical movement and controlled wrestling on sand. The images provide a dated visual record of the activity without identifying individual athletes or assigning them to countries or military teams.
Beach wrestling asks competitors to manage balance, grip and movement on an unstable surface. Sand changes how athletes plant their feet, recover position and respond to pressure. A training or practice session can therefore help participants become comfortable with the surface and the boundaries of the competition area.
Verified 2026 event context
The United World Wrestling events calendar lists the Senior World Military Beach Wrestling Challenge in Lagos, Nigeria, for 10–11 September 2026. It identifies the event as a senior international tournament in beach wrestling.
The International Military Sports Council’s published 2026 programme describes a wider event period from 8–12 September, including arrivals, training, competition and departure activity. Because official listings have not been fully consistent about every location detail, this article relies on United World Wrestling for the Lagos competition dates and avoids making unsupported venue claims.
The Westside photographs are dated 7 September, before the published competition dates. They record military beach wrestling activity during the same period in Lagos, but timing alone does not prove that Westside held an official role in the tournament.
Why the beachfront setting works for practice
A beachfront resort provides open sand and room for marked training circles. For athletes, the environment offers direct experience of the surface used in beach wrestling. For observers, the photographs also show how a sporting session can sit naturally within a coastal setting while remaining separate from ordinary guest activities.
Westside Beach Resort is located at 34 Mopo Akindele Road, Okun Ajah, by Coaster Road in the Lekki area of Lagos. Its grounds combine beach access with hotel accommodation, leisure facilities, dining and spaces used for different kinds of gatherings.
Sport, events and responsible reporting
Real activity at the resort gives Westside an opportunity to share timely local stories. Responsible reporting, however, requires a clear line between what photographs prove and what would need formal confirmation. In this case, the images prove that a military beach wrestling activity occurred on the resort’s sand. They do not prove sponsorship, hosting rights or an organisational partnership.
That distinction protects athletes, event organisers and the resort from inaccurate claims. If official documentation later confirms a formal Westside role, the story can be updated and attributed to that evidence. Until then, the wording will remain careful and specific.
